To bring innovations that contribute to a more resilient agrifood system into practice, collaboration is key. Industry and WUR have joined forces to combat a major threat to one of the largest food crops: the banana. This resulted in the first resistant banana plant.

The plant was developed using advanced breeding and DNA analysis techniques through collaboration between Chiquita, KeyGene, MusaRadix, and Wageningen University & Research. Prof. Dr. Gert Kema (WUR) presents the impact of this innovation on global agriculture, biodiversity, and the future of banana farming.
